The storm continues

It didn’t seem like much of a storm overnight – we heard the wind but no more than we often do. The power fluctuation yesterday afternoon triggered a sensor in our furnace and it stopped working. It wasn’t until the house started feeling a bit cool that we checked into it. We had to call a technician; he came right away and didn’t charge us for resetting the device. It didn’t take long for the house to warm up again.

This morning the wind started up in earnest; none of the ferries have run since last night and the service notices just keep getting longer and longer. The wind blows, the rain comes down in sheets, everything stops for a bit and then it all starts up again. Peggy and Bill were going to come across for a visit tomorrow but, due to the weather, we’ll have to pick another time for our lunch date.

I went out this afternoon to put up a few posters for an upcoming show at the Hall. I thought I was going during a break – it was windy but no rain. The first place I was headed was closed and by the time I got down the street to the next one the rain had started but it still wasn’t too windy. The next stop (just up the street) had me heading out in both wind and rain. On my drive to the last stop the rain was running down the side windows of my car in sheets but by the time I left the building the sun was making a brief appearance.

We’re back to rain and wind again now. I did some work on my 12-Day packages this morning but I think I’ll go downstairs now and do some cross stitching.
