Same old, same old

You will see that we went to the movie last night. Except for the Christmas concert and the movie we took the kids to over Christmas, this was the first “regular” movie I’ve been to in a long time. I don’t know if we’ll get an art film series for the spring, but the film festival is coming up in February. The previews didn’t show much in the next few weeks that look interesting so I may not be back for awhile.

I spent the day sewing – surprise! I got Block 3 of Elizabeth’s House pieced and the appliqué work for all three blocks is finished. After talking to a more experienced quilter at the bee yesterday, I used a stabilizer on the back of my appliqué pieces. She suggested a tear-away interface but I didn’t have that so used some pellon that was sitting in my drawer. It was actually an iron-on product so I had to keep reminding myself not to press the blocks until I had removed it from the back. Even at that I was a little concerned that when I pressed the blocks the bit of pellon under the appliqué stitches would stick to the ironing board. Fortunately none of that happened.

I’m glad I have my knitting to turn to in the evenings. I find it much more relaxing than sewing and when I start making mistakes and ripping back I know it is time for bed.
