Just my luck

I spent the morning going through my e-mail and some paperwork but before I was done it was time for my Red Cross shift. I had a couple of stops to make along the way so I left a little early.

When Carola and I were at the dollar store earlier in the week I didn’t have my list with me; actually I had my list with me (in the lovely felted book Diane gave me) but I neglected to get it out! I stopped in again today and picked up what I missed. When I was finished there I still had lots of time to stop at the economy shop; a quilting friend had told me that there were some new music books on the shelf. I paid $1.25 and ended up with five Royal Conservatory books, mainly on techniques and finger exercises.

I arrived early for my shift at the Loan Cupboard but the volunteer I was replacing was happy to leave early – it was her birthday and she was going out for lunch. It was a very uneventful day and I even had time to read just a little bit of a magazine. I was getting up to pull in the sign and lock the door at two when the fire alarm went off. I could have shut and locked the door, but all the other exit doors close automatically so I couldn’t have gone anywhere. There I sat until the “All Clear” came over the PA system. I knew it was a drill but it seemed to me it took them a long time to clear it; perhaps I was just anxious to get on my way.

I finished up my paperwork when I got home and stitched the binding on my card project. I’ll hand stitch it tonight and I’ll be able to cross another thing off the list. And speaking of lists, my apologies to those who follow me on Goodreads; I added a whack of books this morning based on The End of Your Life Book Club.
