I ordered the book from the library before I saw the movie, but it didn’t show up until the movie had come and gone. I debated whether or not I should still read it, but I liked the movie and thought, as happens in most cases, the book would be even better. I wasn’t disappointed in the book, but I think the movie was better. Even after seeing the characters come alive in the movie, I wasn’t seeing those images as I read the book. Death, as the narrator, had more to say in the book than in the movie, and some of his thoughts were quite insightful.
