Willa’s birthday is just one day before Mum’s. This is one of the last non-themed blocks in the Splendid Sampler series; of course there are almost a hundred more in the Splendid Sampler 2 series.

There were so many little pieces in this 6″ block it is no wonder it was near to the last one I tackled. I think I count 53 pieces.

This block was created to honour the many quilters who have made and donated pillowcases to local charities. I’ve made a few pillowcases in my time but I’m certainly nowhere near the one million mark.

I had a lot of fun with this block and, again, the appliqué went very smoothly.

After all the appliqué I did on my Farmhouse quilt it didn’t seem too terrible to do a bit more on this block. Most of my remaining Splendid Sampler blocks are theme-related (e.g. Easter, Christmas, etc.) so it was nice to be able to use one of them.

Although I’ve had Fall birthdays before that I could have used this pattern for I have always been put off by the appliqué. I’m afraid to say it but I’ve actually enjoyed my recent appliqué projects.

It’s a bit too early for a Thanksgiving or Hallowe’en pumpkin but I suspect there are many pumpkins in the somebody’s patch that are ripening.
