Happy Birthday Audrey

May 17, 2022

Hello Sunshine (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

By now the season in Saskatchewan has probably turned to Spring, if not already heading into summer. I hope Audrey has a sunny day for her birthday and many more of them over the next year.

Happy Birthday Jody

Nancy’s Spool (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

This was a simple card to make and the pattern couldn’t have been better – Jody is a quilter so spools of thread will be very familiar to her. Since I’m no longer even trying to do anything fancy for quilting this one was super easy.

Happy Mother’s Day

Iowa Star (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

I used the very smallest bits of my Kaffe Fassett fabric for these cards. Does it make sense that just as I’ve used up my stash I’m going to be looking to buy more on our June trip?

I used the freezer paper technique for these paper-pieced cards. I was able to get all four sections of the card done with one piece of freezer paper. It wasn’t until I was finished the first one that I realized the picture I had been looking at and the pattern I was using were completely different. In my own defense they were similar.

Christy, Kathryn and Elizabeth are all fantastic mothers and they deserve to be celebrated.

Happy Birthday Ken

Get to the Point (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

Ken’s birthday reminds me of seeding time on the farm as well as the Elrose High School Grad. I’m sure on more than one occasion Ken’s birthday has coincided with one or both of those events. This year he will be sharing his birthday with Mother’s Day celebrations.

If I’m trying to find a link between the card and Ken I guess I can say that Ken is a man of few words and will always get to the point in a conversation.
