Flights of Friendship (from The Splendid Sampler series)

Peggy and I were friends before I even remember being friends, thanks to the friendship of our parents. We lost touch for a few years but I’ve been so happy to have reconnected with her since our move to Powell River. We don’t see each other often enough (because we both have busy lives) but we enjoy each other’s company when we do get together.

Happy Birthday Wendy

Wendy’s card is from The Splendid Sampler series. It is called Focal Point which my dictionary says means “the center of interest or activity”.

As Wendy celebrates her special birthday this year she is with her family in Quesnel, which I know is her focal point when she is at home!

Happy Birthday Audrey

May 17, 2018

This is a milestone year for Audrey so her “card” is bigger than usual (at 12″).

The block is called Birthday Cake but neither the colours I picked nor the colours on the pattern bring a particular cake to mind. I used two different patterns from my new book for the quilting design.

I hope she has a better cake for her special day!

Birds in the Corner

I needed more inspiration for my cards this month so I delved into the blocks on my Quilter’s Block-A-Day Calendar. Each date on the calendar is a different block and the sizes vary from 6″ to 12″; this block is 6″.

I recently purchased a quilting book with patterns for use with your walking foot and I used two different patterns from the book to quilt the card.
