Happy Birthday Kevin

February 10, 2019

From the Quilter’s Block-A-Day calendar

When I came up to my studio to make Kevin’s card the block on the calendar for the day was the right size so I didn’t look any further – it seemed like a sign. I changed up the colours a bit.

The block is called Totem Pole, although it doesn’t resemble any of the poles we have around here. The quilting is part of a pattern called Aztec; I wasn’t able to complete the quilting pattern because the block was too small.

Happy Birthday Will

January 18, 2019

I couldn’t find a particularly suitable card for Will in my go-to book of blocks. Since I was short on time I decided to use a block I had made for another project that got halted after only a few weeks.

The front of the block didn’t inspire me much so I added a backing that is more suitable to Will – who will be eligible to drive in just a year!

Happy Birthday Taylor

January 10, 2019

I feel bad that Taylor “real” gift didn’t get done in time to get it to her for her birthday. However, I can say that by the time she wakes up on her birthday, I will have her gift finished. It will be in the mail shortly thereafter.

I certainly didn’t want her to go without something to open so I made this pillowcase for her. I told her it was a hint as to what will be in her “real” present.

Happy 40th Birthday Kathryn

Card Trick (from 501 Rotary-Cut Quilt Blocks)

First card of the New Year and the birthday is a big one. I don’t know how Kathryn got to be this age without me getting any older!

Kaffe Fassett

I used some of the Kaffe Fassett fabrics that were left from my Farmer’s Daughter blocks. It is lovely to be far enough along that I can start using the scraps. And I never use that line of fabric without remembering how much I enjoyed hearing him speak at the Houston International Quilt Show a couple of years ago.
