Happy Birthday Stacia

July 17, 2021

Sewing Circle (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

I honestly don’t remember whether or not this was fate and the ticket I pulled for Stacia’s card or if I found this one in the book and thought it was more suitable.

During the pandemic Stacia, Deloise and I have been video chatting every week and once a month we have spent some virtual time together quilting – some months only for a day but others up to three days. I have enjoyed every minute of our time and I hope we will continue our habit long after we are all back to normal. Virtual doesn’t replace in person but it was a great substitute.

Happy Birthday Christy

For Madge (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

Although I followed the idea of the pattern for this block I felt that with bees in the corners there should be flowers in the centre. I made the card on Texada; I’ve not done much quilting on the machine I have over there but I came up with a setting that works for a very simple stitch.

I hope there are only flowers in Christy’s day – no bees allowed!

Happy Birthday Elizabeth

Pinwheel Magic (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

I admit I hand-picked this card pattern. I wanted to take it to Texada to stitch but so many of the tickets I pulled involved a lot of appliqué so I flipped through my book until I found something that was just pieced.

I love pinwheels so a double pinwheel was a bonus.

I just did the math and it can’t possibly be right. Elizabeth is 40?

A Trio of Birthdays

Piece in Chaos (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

It is always fun to make a trio of cards for three birthdays on the same day – Tynan, Ian, and Josh.

The name of this particular block is perfect. Although my sewing room is often in chaos it is my happy place regardless of the mess.
