Finally

Saturday, June 11, 2022

I’ve finished my packing and I’m quite sure I’m ready to go – I just need to pack my phone and my charger. I took a few things out of my suitcase, added a few things in, rearranged a few things and it still feels light enough to manage. I cleaned out my purse and took only what I needed and then changed the bag entirely. I was worried about carrying my purse but I found a way to attach it to my suitcase so I can roll them both; and by attach I mean in a nice way, not binder-twined.

While I waited for time to pass I finished up the latest section of my Botanical Garden. I looked at starting the border on it, as well as on my Peppermint Purple, but decided I needed to wait just a bit longer to be sure I have everything centred correctly.

I took a walk up to the letterbox this afternoon. It was spitting rain when I walked up but by the time I got home the sun was shining again. Strange weather; there is a chance of showers tomorrow but nothing I’ll worry too much about. Last time I travelled I changed my mind on a sweater/jacket three times in the morning before heading out to the ferry.

And so that’s it. I’m so looking forward to this vacation time. I’ll be back at the end of the month.

I hate waiting !

Friday, June 10, 2022

In my mind I’m all set and ready for my trip; in reality not so much. But I hate waiting. I don’t want to start on anything because I either won’t have time to get finished or because it will be too hard on my back. I’m having a hard time restraining myself from adding “just one more thing” to my suitcase.

It would be a good day to be out in the yard but I can’t be doing that. I would like (yes, like) to vacuum my sewing room but that is out of the question. I’d like to cut and sort more of my fabric scraps but I can’t stand for too long at a time.

So I’ve spent most of the day working on my Botanical Garden sampler. I’ve even gone so far as to print out the borders for both of my blackwork projects although I doubt I’ll have time to start on either one of them.

Another change in plans

Thursday, June 9, 2022

I don’t think I’ve ever taken a trip that has involved so many Plan Bs and changes to the original plan but I made another one today. I thought I’d be taking my backpack as my suitcase but we decided that a pull-along might be a better option as twisting to put the backpack on and off might be a problem. I donated all of my wheeled suitcases (except one) on one of my decluttering binges so what I need to take will have to fit into the small one that I kept. I won’t be taking many clothes but this morning I did an initial pack and everything seems to fit in okay. Deloise has promised me laundry facilities so I should be okay – boring though, as I’ll be wearing the same clothes several days in a row.

I finished the embroidery on my latest card project. It is far from perfect but, from a distance and with my glasses off, I’m okay with it. Mum did such amazing embroidery and the back of her projects was almost as good as the front!

I’ll spend the rest of the afternoon doing this week’s section on my Peppermint Purple project.

Out and about

Wednesday, June 8, 2022

I had an appointment today so I made a list of everything I thought I needed so I could do my shopping and errands in one trip. I made a deposit for the Hall, picked up some cash for myself and then headed to the doctor’s appointment. I didn’t expect I’d need a prescription but I did so I dropped it at the pharmacy before heading to Walmart to pick up a few things. Then it was back to the pharmacy and one more stop before heading home.

I was concerned about how my back would react to not only getting into and out of the car but also driving. It was no problem. My back is much better today and I think tomorrow I will start packing and then wander around the house with my backpack to see how it affects me.

I did a bit of Hall work this morning as a result of our meeting last night and then I got started doing the embroidery on a card; it isn’t pretty but I’m determined to stick with it!
