I spent the first part of my morning working on a task for the Hall. I’ve had it on my desk for a couple of weeks but I’ll leave it for one more check tomorrow before finalizing it and sending it off.

Wednesday means a morning in the yard and today was one of the best days yet. The weeds are still growing and even the spots I’d weeded previously needed a bit of a touch up but it was sunny and there was a light breeze and the wonderful scent of the lilacs was accompanying me wherever I worked. I did some trimming on the lavender as well and from time to time the lavender overpowered the lilacs. I hate weeding, but I’m starting to enjoy the yard.

We met our next door neighbours this morning; they’ve been there for awhile but we’d never met them. I was doing the weeding and Pat was supervising from the deck when they came home from somewhere. They seemed very friendly and they have a small baby.

This afternoon I’ve been busy quilting. I have just a few more blocks to go and I’ll be done the stabilizing and first design work. I’ve changed my mind a few times regarding where I’ll go from there but hopefully just getting at it will point the way.

I was at my computer by 6:30 this morning trying to catch up on some paperwork. I managed to clear a few things off my desktop but it is going to take a lot of early mornings if I’m to get caught up anytime soon.

I decided to skip the Guild bee today; as Pat put it yesterday I have only one sewing task until it is done. So I’ve spent a good part of the day doing just that.

I took a short break this afternoon to get some photos at the Guild bee. I had a deposit to pick up at the Hall and a bank deposit to make. I had a book to return to the library; I couldn’t help checking the shelves for a book by another author I’ve had recommended to me. That as well as the book I placed on hold this morning will keep me reading for the rest of the month.

As soon as I get some laundry off the line and out of the drier I’ll get back to that sewing project.

I took a mid-morning ferry to Texada on Saturday; I haven’t driven over for quite awhile but there was no way I could do a walk-on with all my baking. The sound check was supposed to be Saturday afternoon at two. I knew that a couple of the Legion ladies were going to be there to set up some cheese and cracker trays and I thought it would be a good idea if I went along just to see how things worked in the building.

Someone (not as good at booking as I am obviously) had double booked the room and we weren’t able to even load the musicians’ gear in until close to three. I set up the chairs and tables for the evening and when that was done we sat and had a drink before heading home for supper.

The concert was very well attended (five short of a sell out) and we did well on the concession. At the end of the night we put away the table and chairs; there were some folks that said they were going to be needed for the next day but our instructions had been to put them away so that’s what we did.

Sunday morning Pat caught an early ferry back to Powell River for the Hike for Hospice event but I decided to spend another day at the studio. I did nothing but knit and read all day, unless you count napping as doing something. It was so relaxing!

This morning I did some cleaning over there and was home just past noon. Pat and I spent the afternoon on a Grad project – I’m glad that is off the list. Pat expects to be out for the evening so I’ll do some quilting tonight.

I’ve been baking and cooking since eight this morning and I’m finally done. I made a lemon bundt cake, a chocolate bundt cake, gingersnap cookies and rice krispie squares. After those were done and packed up for Texada I cooked up a batch of rhubarb; sadly not from my garden but it came from somebody’s.

While I waited for things to bake I did dishes (in preparation for the next batch), sorted the recycle, and cleaned out the plant pots on the deck. I think I’ll fill some of the empty pots with petunias and snapdragons but that will wait for another day. I also fixed a wind chime that had broken during one of our winter storms.

I had to go out for rice krispies and marshmallows so I stopped at the fabric shop on the way. I ordered a pattern for a class that I’m taking later this month and it had arrived. I had a “frequent customer” discount card so it only cost me $1.10. I should have left immediately but we got talking and I told Deb of another pattern I was doing and we decided on some fabric. It will be a reverse appliqué project and the background will be the Paris skyline. I did a reverse appliqué once before and didn’t like it (I think Kathryn picked it off the wall last summer) but maybe this time I’ll be better at it!

I’m off now to sit and relax – possibly nap before an early bedtime. I’ll head over to Texada tomorrow morning. I’m not sure how long I’ll stay but likely until Monday.
