I was out to the Hall first thing this morning – there was money to be collected and I hate to delay that. Since I’ve been home (and finished playing Candy Crush Saga) I’ve been up in my studio looking for small jobs to do before heading off to my afternoon sewing.

One of the things I had waiting for some attention was Deloise’s I’m a Farmer’s Daughter block. Up until this last step I’ve had no problem using the machine for the stitching; when I did my own quilt I used an English Paper Piecing technique.

On Tuesday I had my pieces all cut and ready to go – I’d been told by many of the quilters that curves are easy. I knew that wasn’t the case because Stacia and Deloise had tried it and had no luck. But I really couldn’t stand the thought of digging out all those paper templates. I didn’t even get the pieces under my needle before I knew it was going to be impossible to do it on the machine.

So this morning I tried again with another technique. I was able to stitch the two pieces together by hand but to say it looked terrible is probably a compliment. So I’ve ripped it out and will start over.

Hopefully the third time will be the charm – back to English Paper Piecing.

I was aiming to get a lot done today but I’ve barely made a dent in the pile. I had an opening at the Hall this morning so I told Pat I’d buy him breakfast at the Magpie Diner. I was a bit early at the Hall and it’s a good thing – the contractors were just beginning to move their equipment out of the Hall and everything was covered in dust. Since it was a Somatic Movement class (on the floor) I knew the Hall had to be clean so I got to work. Fortunately the renter was a bit late so by the time she arrived I had cleaned everything up.

I did a bit of computer work but for most of the day I’ve been emptying and refilling bins. My Tuesday bin has been sorted and is ready for tomorrow’s session. I cut and sorted a lot of scraps and squared up 96 half-square triangles for tomorrow’s project. My Show and Tell for tomorrow night is ready to go, even if my report isn’t.

The bag that Pat brought back from Texada for me is unpacked – that resulted in a whole bunch more scraps that need to be dealt with. Do those scraps ever end?

The file folder of paperwork I was given yesterday at the Hall still needs to be dealt with but the cheque has been written so it is only for my own record keeping that I need to sort it all out.

In the time I have between now and the movie (Cinematheque Night) I’ll work on my report for the Guild meeting tomorrow.

I’ve been busy all day. While I waited for our Cran Hall president to stop by I started my laundry. Then I cleaned up the laundry room and broke down a few boxes for recycling. I cleaned up the back deck next; we’ve tended to store “crap” out there and it had started bugging me.

I knew there was some desk work to take care of today so I started with the smallest bit first. I’m helping out with membership this year so I got the list updated – people wander in on Tuesday’s to pay their dues and I’m trying hard to keep things up to date. Final day for renewal is the October meeting; after that there shouldn’t be many changes to the list.

Then I started work on the Cranberry Hall minutes. I have them finished for the most part but I like to take a day between typing them up and sending them out so my review of them is a little more thorough. There was a bank deposit to get ready, as well as a few cheques to get ready for the mail.

I started cutting out some fabric while I waited on another person to stop by for Hall business. I’ll take the Scottie Dog block to Texada with me tomorrow and, hopefully, have it ready for Tuesday. I cut out the final pieces for Deloise’s I’m a Farmer’s Daughter block and then watched a couple of videos on the best way to sew curves. And finally I’ve cut out all the pieces I’ll need for my November miniature – I want to include it in my “free” Canada Post package.

I’ll finish the binding on my last finished quilt tonight and maybe even get to some knitting.
