Priorities

Wednesday, November 27, 2019

I had my priorities set for the day. I didn’t manage to accomplish everything but I made a good start.

I sorted out the last “thing” for my 12 Days of Christmas packages. I need to do a bit of shopping tomorrow and then I can get them packed up and ready for the mail.

I wanted to get my birthday gifts and cards ready but I need to do a bit of shopping tomorrow to finish those off. I hoped I had enough cards already made up for the birthdays but I need to finish up one more. I still have some time for that and at least finding the cards seems like an accomplishment in the mess.

I’ve priced and packaged all my sale items, plus a few items that a friend wanted me to sell for her. She had a disastrous sale on the Island last week end and is hoping I can sell something to help her recover some of her loss. I didn’t have any Christmas items (except for one) so I took a few of her seasonal quilted projects.

I was able to finish the last ornament for my 12 Days ‘Til Christmas project. I got ribbons hung on them this afternoon and I’ve even sorted out a way to display them. Now that I see all I have to sell table space may be a problem. I called today to ask for another table but they are sold out. We may be able to get a card table at the last minute and even that would help.

I’m still working on one final scarf for the sale but if it doesn’t get done I’m okay without it. I’ve cleared enough of a surface that I think I can get my sewing machine set up and maybe get that card finished before supper.

Making a list

Tuesday, November 26, 2019

I need to make a list and it isn’t all about Christmas. I have so many things to do that I decided this morning to list all the things that need to be done between now and the middle of December. Here goes:

  • Minutes from the Hall meeting last night (we have another one on December 16)
  • Price and pack up items for the sale on the weekend
  • Revise the Guild membership list (that I brought home today)
  • Finish a couple of projects for the sale on the weekend
  • Finish one more “thing” for the 12 Days of Christmas
  • Finish three Christmas gifts and make some cards
  • Purchase some Christmas and birthday gifts, and make cards to go with them
  • Try to get the mess in my sewing room sorted out
  • Send out cards and packages

That was pretty easy. It will be harder to prioritize the list and even harder to get it all done.

All set

I was able to get the brackets I needed for my glass cabinet while I was out running errands this morning. Pat had to make some modifications but we were able to get the second shelf installed as well as the top of the cabinet put in place. I emptied three bins of fabric into the cabinet this afternoon and there is still room for lots more. I need to get busy using some of this fabric now!

I had a doctor’s appointment this morning for a prescription renewal. My doctor is away so I was seeing his replacement. As I patiently waited and waited and waited I kept telling myself that someone else obviously needed more care than I did. When the doctor finally arrived I knew why he was so far behind. He checked my blood pressure and then proceeded to show me how his computer renews the prescriptions and how he checks on previous lab work, etc. etc. I felt sorry for the people who were waiting after me.

From there I went to the drug store and I thought that while I waited for my prescriptions to be filled I’d get my flu shot. That should have been quick – right? There were six people working in the pharmacy, but it took fifteen minutes for them to set up for the flu shot. Then it was another fifteen minutes after the injection while they filled the prescription – and made sure I was okay after the shot.

It was noon before I got the shopping done and was home.

Tonight is a Board meeting and I spent more time than I thought I would getting ready for it. I spent all evening yesterday working on reports and “stuff” but it took most of my afternoon to get it all reviewed and packed up.

I think I’ll get back to my cross stitch ornaments until it is time to go to the meeting.

Lazy Day

Sunday, November 24, 2019

I’ve had a very lazy day today – and I’m loving it!

I worked on my cross stitch ornaments most of the morning. Pat came home on the noon ferry and I washed the glass shelves for my new cabinet. We got one shelf into the cabinet and realized that two of the brackets we had for the second shelf were the wrong size. Hopefully I can find the right ones tomorrow when I go looking. I could have gone out this afternoon but I really felt like a day at home.

So after lunch we went downstairs and watched the final few episodes of The Crown and then we started the new season of Atypical. I was knitting while we were watching so it isn’t as lazy as it sounds.

I finally took a break (from watching and knitting) and I’ve been working on papers for the Hall meeting tomorrow night. Still a long way to go but at least it is a start.
