I can’t do it all

Sunday, June 28, 2020 (Block 104)

I can’t do it all but I can do quite a bit when I set my mind to it.

I made one of Mum’s recipes (Cut Glass Cake) first thing this morning. I made the jello last night; after pouring the water into the pan for one of the flavours I realized there was a hole in it somewhere so that was a bit of a mess to clean up. I managed to save enough though to work in the dessert. I used Cool Whip rather than whipping the cream myself; I’m not sure if that will make any difference. In hindsight I wish I had cooled the juice and gelatin a bit more before adding it into the mixture. I’ve already picked out another recipe I want to make next time.

After the dessert was made, the dishwasher started and the extra dishes done I headed outside. I worked on the patio bricks at the front today; it took a couple of hours but I’m pleased I got it all finished. I cleared up the bags of green waste (moved them somewhere else) and we’ll get them out to the dump next week.

Water Mill

I didn’t come upstairs until after lunch but I’ve got my daily block finished. I had fun with this one finding some nautical-themed fabric to go into it.

For the rest of the afternoon I’m going to go out and sit on the front deck and enjoy my weed-free zone. Groceries were delivered and I have tonic so I’m thinking a G & T after all my hard work is in order. I started a new book last night and I could hardly put it down; I’ll take it out with me and continue the adventure.

Tidying Up

Saturday, June 27, 2020 (Block 103)

Tulip Lady Finger

I spent all morning clearing up the paperwork on my desk (and other surfaces). It wasn’t until after lunch that I got started on my daily block (who names these things?) and when that was done I did some tidying up on my cutting table.

I was able to find the charger for my camera battery on my cutting table – losing that was what prompted the clean up.

There is more to do (there is always more to do) but I’m quitting for the day. I’ll go out and mow the grass, but maybe not the boulevard. When I walked to the mailbox yesterday we perfectly match all the other boulevards.

I finished up a knitting project last night so I’ll try to find another pattern because even though I have two more balls of the same yarn I know I don’t want to repeat the pattern. I still have some binding to stitch down so I won’t run out of things to do.

Not a productive day

Tic-Tac-Toe

My plan for the day was to finish my daily block, clear up some paperwork and finish the hand stitching on my latest quilt. The block is finished but that is about all I’ve accomplished.

I worked all afternoon on paper but only managed to get though Pat’s accounting. I’ll have to resume that task tomorrow.

I’m going downstairs now to work on my hand stitching. I hope to finish it tonight but no guarantees.

Did I pass?

Steps to the Altar

I really like this block and I’ve set aside a copy of the pattern as it would probably work well with my scraps. The block is only six inches but I’ve heard of this pattern before so I can probably find a larger version somewhere. If not, I think I can figure out how to double the size.

I finished my online Board training this morning. Although there were no certificates handed out I know I came out with a lot of good ideas that I will attempt to flesh out and present to the Cran Hall group. Today’s topic was one I was really interested in so I paid attention all the way through so I got behind on my daily tasks.

Before I started my daily block I attached the binding to my Log Cabin quilt. There were some ends that needed to be knotted and buried and I took care of a few of the ones that were in my way as I stitched. I thought I had them all done yesterday (apparently not) so I won’t be surprised if I find more to be done.

I got a couple of cards ready for the mail. I was going to go out to the mailbox but decided they still had enough time to reach their destinations so I decided to stay home.

There will definitely be some hand sewing in my evening as I hand stitch the binding. This was my June UFO so that’s another one done before the deadline.
