Labour Day?

Monday, September 7, 2020

Fan Dance (Block 131)

I know it’s Labour Day but I have to say, for me, it’s been more of a Lazy Day. I went to get groceries first thing but I was home in under an hour. While I had my coffee I started knitting and most of the morning was gone before I stopped.

Today is a quilting day according to my calendar so, after finishing my daily block, I got started. I was actually looking forward to working on the project, mainly because I want it done. I made pretty good progress today but with all the colour changes and stitch changes it is taking longer than I would like. Do I dare hope I can get the quilting done before we go to Texada so I can stitch the binding there?

Cleaning Up

Comfort Block (Block 130)

I’ve been busy cleaning up this morning so not much to show. I took a bit of time to make my daily block, mostly to give myself a break and because it was an easy one. My scraps are overflowing the bin and the basket but right now I’m concentrating on surfaces and the floor.

I’m itching to make a furniture move but I don’t think I’ll be able to get that done today. It involves a lot of shifting – from my desk to my sewing machines – and I haven’t yet measured to see if stuff will fit.

I’d better get back to it.

Production

Carson City (Block 129)

If you are going to be up at 5:30 in the morning you may as well get something done with the day. And today I was very productive. Two cards done and three daily blocks.

I had great plans

Friday, September 3, 2020

I had great plans for today – finish my Hex-Along clue, get out to the library, send out my report for the Hall board meeting, do my daily block and maybe, just maybe, do another birthday card.

I was up at six and things were going very well. The hexies were basted by eight and the plan was to have the pieces stitched together long before lunch. I got the pieces put together and attached three of them to the larger project but when I gave it a second look I realized that two of them were turned the wrong way. So I took them all out and started over. It was past one before I finally finished. I know my time estimates are usually off but this one was really bad.

Once that was done I headed out to the library. I had a book to return and three more to pick up. I plan to do a lot of reading when I go across to Texada next week and fortunately the due dates are the end of the month so I should be fine.

I’ve kind of run out of steam so I’m not sure how much more work I’ll get done. I definitely have to get that Hall report out but after that it is anyone’s guess.
