Not much

Thursday

I had very little computer work to do this morning so I was sewing before Pat was out of bed. I finished getting the binding on the last couple of cards and then moved on to quilting my Guild challenge fr the year. I knew it wouldn’t take long and I already have the binding sewn on and it is ready for hand stitching.

I had two Hall-related visits today. Ned dropped off the mail and Annabelle stopped in to sign some cheques. Of course this means that tomorrow there will be some computer work for me to do but I hope to get a few stitches into my May UFO Challenge. I haven’t done anything on it and it is only a few days before next month’s is released.

I’m having some issues with my new journal delivery system; yesterday’s post never came through. I’m hoping that perhaps both of them will come through tomorrow. I was hopeful that all the testing would be done and I could switch everyone over but I guess that will have to wait. Unless I can find the glitch I might not be able to switch over until after we come back from Texada.

I’ll get a bit more stitching done tonight while I attend a Zoom meeting for the 100+ Women Who Care. I can have my camera off and just listen in to the presenters until it is time to vote. It is usually a very short meeting but it may be enough to get a card done.

Based on Dr. Henry’s update today I think we’ll be getting the call for our 2nd vaccine very soon.

No wonder

Wednesday

The neighbours yard

I worked in the yard last night and again this morning. I got more done than I thought I would and have only a small stretch on the side of the house that adjoins our neighbours yard. When I get that patch done we’ll make a trip to the dump with all our green waste and then I’ll start on round two. As I was finishing up I couldn’t help but look over into the neighbour’s yard; it is no wonder I can’t keep up with the weeds on my side of the fence.

Our yard

As I headed out the door this morning Pat told me that there was a Special Weather Statement out for out area – up to 40 mm of rain between today and tomorrow. The wind picked up a lot while I was working and it eventually drove me inside. The rain has started now; I don’t mind as the yard really needs the moisture.

I quilted all my June cards this afternoon and now I’m organizing the binding for them. Pat has an online session tonight so I’ll have a chance for some hand stitching.

We’re planning to go over to Texada next week; we both have events in the calendar but we decided none of them were essential so we’ll get a change of scenery. I’ve already started packing (in my mind) the projects I want to take with me.

My Own Little Corner

I had another day of card tops. At the beginning of the day I knew there were three tops that needed to be done and possibly a fourth one. One of our Guild members has a birthday the day after our next meeting and, if we were meeting in person, I wanted to give her a card.

Pat and I were gathered around the radio after lunch today to see what our new Public Health Orders would and wouldn’t allow us to do. Outdoor gatherings are still limited to ten people so there won’t be an in-person Guild meeting this month. It is possible that we will be able to have an outdoor wind-up party but we won’t know that for a few weeks.

From today’s announcement it looks like distance travel won’t really be recommended until the fall. We are still confined to our own regions for travel so no change there. Face masks are still mandatory; we can go into restaurants now but with the weather so nice we’d prefer to be eating on a deck rather than inside. I don’t think I’ll be comfortable taking any long trips until most of the population are fully vaccinated and air travel is fully opened again.

My Own Little Corner (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

So it would appear that we’ll be stuck in our own little corner for a few more weeks. Since I needed a picture for my post and it seemed like the perfect block title for these past several months I thought I’d go ahead and make it. My Guild friend will get an e-card.

My first test on my mail delivery system worked well for both Pat and I. I’ve tweaked a couple more things today and included a photo in this post to see how it comes across. If all is well I’ll move over fully to the new system; I don’t expect any issues but there may be some.

Cards

Monday, May 24, 2021

I spent all morning working on my website. Adding the authors to my book posts isn’t hard but it is monotonous. I have two out of sixteen pages done so there is still a lot to go. I’ll have to up my daily page count if I ever hope to finish. As I go through the books I can often remember the story based on the cover of the book. There are a few though that I have no clue what they were about and, clearly, my review didn’t tell me anything. Based on a good report from Regan I put two more books on hold at the library.

I’m also trying to catch up on my quilting project book. I’m ready to start February of this year so I’m almost there. It’s the same with my Guild archives; I do a little bit each day and eventually they will be caught up.

After working on two large quilts it was nice today to be back to the small pieces my cards require. I had a chance to test out my new scrap system and I have to say it worked even better than I anticipated. I still have three colour-coordinated bags that need a bin but maybe that will encourage me to finish or transfer projects that are sitting in bins. And I also have several shoe boxes full of scraps organized the “old” way.

I have one card top finished and three more in progress. I hope to get another one finished before I quit for the day.
