Progress

I spent most of the morning out in the yard after doing a bit of Pat’s accounting. I hadn’t intended to tackle the grape but it was overtaking a couple of bushes so I decided to get it cleaned up before I started actually weeding the beds. Long story short, I never actually got to the individual beds. I was tired when I finished picking up the bindweed, dead heads and grape leaves but I stuck to my plan to mow the lawn. The grass itself wasn’t very tall but the weeds were sticking up all over. Pat came out and relieved me when I was about half done; it is surprising how easy it looks when you are watching someone else do the mowing.

After a couple of loads of laundry and running the dishwasher I came upstairs and got back to my quilting. The project I’m working on is a medallion – a centre surrounded by a few border rows (mine has four beyond the centre). I did the stabilizing around the centre and have a good start on the quilting. It’s going to take some time to get it done because it seems every time I finish a section I have to change thread – so far I’ve used four different colours. I’m liking the design I picked. It isn’t an original but I went through some photos of quilts that I had saved (not my own) and found some patterns that would work.

Pat has an online event this evening so I’ll work on this week’s clue for my Peppermint Purple cross stitch project.

It’s a start

I managed to avoid quilting all morning – some Guild work, some yard work, some Hall work and a few errands. I finally put a few stitches into the quilt this afternoon but it is going to be a slow process. I don’t really have a plan for the quilting so started with some ditch stitching. I figured out a bit of a plan for one section and put in enough stitches to decide that it was going to work. I’ve decided on the quilting for another section but I’ll have to change thread colours before I try it out.

So I decided that watching TV in the basement was the solution to my dilemma. After a couple of episodes I could hardly keep my eyes open so I had a nap. It’s supper time now so there won’t be anything more done today.

Hopefully I’ll be more productive tomorrow.

Back in the Hall

Yesterday’s Song Circle was an easy event for me to moderate. There were only seven participants and they were all performers. Once I started the recording I turned off the camera and the microphone and worked on my Cranberry Hall accounting. I still have to post the recording but I’ll get to that in a couple of days.

I spent most of the morning working on Hall stuff. I finalized some paperwork that I need to send to the government and then started making notes for the meeting tonight. We’re going to meet in-person at the Hall, a first since last summer before the third wave struck. We have some requests for bookings for August and we need to finalize and test our protocols before we open to the public. I had to re-write the Rental Agreement and it is ready now to present to the Board for feedback.

This morning just before a video chat started the second clue for one of my mystery quilts was released. I have that stack of quilting to do but after lunch I decided I’d work on the clue rather than start quilting. Clue two was quite quick to put together and I’m already done. I’ll get my quilting machine set up so that tomorrow, after I work in the yard, there will be no excuse to delay starting.

Quite a stack

I’ve been sandwiching quilts all day today. I started this morning on the back deck because in my mind it is cool out there in the mornings. Apparently not the case. By noon I was so tired and my back hurt so much I was hoping I would run out of pins so I’d have to stop. But there were still more quilts to sandwich and lots of pins so I carried on.

I just finished the last of them (well the ones that aren’t hidden away in a bin somewhere) and I am so done. I’m going to take a pill and lay down for awhile and hope when I get up (if I can get up) I’ll feel better.

I thought once they were sandwiched I’d feel like I had accomplished something but now all I see is a huge stack of quilting I need to get to.
