He’s back

Wednesday, November 24, 2021

We watched the second season of The Tiger King last night. It isn’t as spell-binding as the first season but equally sleazy. All the original characters are back; the good news was that some of the exotic animals were taken away from a couple of the farms and the owners of those farms may be in as much trouble as the original Tiger King. I guess we’ll have to wait for another season to find out more.

I was up stitching until one o’clock this morning. I went to bed at my usual time and then got up about 11:30 as I hadn’t been able to fall asleep. After a bit of stitching I felt tired enough so went back to bed. That meant I slept in until almost nine and by the time I had finished the one task on my list for today (editing and posting the last Song Circle) the morning was half over.

I persevered and got another 12-Day box packaged up, along with wrapping a birthday gift and getting it ready for the mail. I had a library book to return and another one to pick up. It was almost noon by this time so Pat drove me and we picked up a pizza for lunch – 50% off!

I’ve been working on my Peppermint Purple SAL this afternoon. The individual blocks don’t take long but I’ve started adding to the border and that takes a bit longer.

We’re expecting another storm tonight – high winds and rain. It has been windy and rainy pretty much all day so it might be hard to tell when the real storm starts.

Almost

Tuesday, November 23, 2021

I dropped the first of my 12-Days packages at the Post Office this morning. I thought I was quite early in getting them away but the clerk asked right away if I was sending Christmas gifts. It wasn’t crowded first thing this morning but I noticed they are again limiting the number of people in at one time. I take that to mean they have already started having lineups.

I took three projects to the bee to work on and I almost got them finished – two out of the three are done and number three is half-way there. I would have stayed long enough to get them all finished but people were packing up and cleaning up so I packed it in too.

I was double-booked for Thursday night – a Guild demo and a Zoom meeting. I decided before leaving this morning that I would attend the Zoom meeting. I’ve been thinking a lot about the upcoming Christmas dinner and wondering whether or not it would be better to skip it. When I mentioned to the Program Committee head that I couldn’t make it on Thursday she immediately assumed I was talking about the dinner so I accepted that as a sign and I’ll stay home from both Guild events.

I picked up one more birthday gift after the bee. Tomorrow I’ll get another box ready and out in the mail.

Power Outage – Again

Monday, November 22, 2021

I was busy at my computer finishing up a few last-minute things for my 12-Day packages when the power flickered off. It came on right away so I continued what I was doing. The power went completely off a short time later but fortunately I had just saved the document I was working on.

The power stayed off for over an hour. For the first part of the outage Pat and I sat downstairs in the dark. I didn’t expect it to be off long but before the hour was up my feet were getting cold and I felt like I should be doing something. I could continue to wrap packages in the light from my sewing room window or I could read by the light from the main floor windows. With the help of my around-the-neck light I could even do a bit of cross stitching. In the end I decided to read because I put two more books on hold at the library this morning.

Once the power was back on and lunch was over I got one box ready for mailing. I thought I might take it to the post office this afternoon but the rain and the wind were continuing so I decided it could wait until tomorrow.

I cut out a couple of projects for the bee tomorrow and added one in that didn’t get finished last week. If I finish the projects early I have another stop to make after the post office and I guess it wouldn’t hurt to be home earlier than usual.

I’m done upstairs for the day and I think I’ll go back to my reading.

Stitching and songs

Sunday, November 21, 2021

I spent some of my morning getting the binding on birthday cards so I’d have some hand stitching to do while I attended the Virtual Sunday Song Circle. I had some extra time so worked on a cross stitch Christmas card.

There was good attendance at the Song Circle and with everyone playing twice I had lots of time to finish the stitching on the cards, do a bit of cross stitch and then add some backstitching to my project.

I’ve been making my Christmas and birthday lists which meant I had to do more Amazon shopping. I’m waiting to fill in one more blank spot and then I can place the order. Almost all the sites are saying delivery to BC might be delayed so I want to get everything done as quickly as possible.

I’m still working on a couple of knitting projects in the evening. I’m sharing yarn between two projects. Although I’m pretty sure I’ll have enough yarn to finish both of them I’m not sure they will be done in time for my donation this year.
