For the Grandkids

By now all the grandchildren pretty much know they will be getting a gift card for Christmas. But to make it a bit more exciting I added a little something to each of their bags.

I had to wait for the gift cards to arrive so I started making bags and tags. As it turned out the cards arrived before I was finished but they were an easy project so it didn’t delay getting them into the mail.

12 Days of Christmas – Day 10

This cross stitch fabric (Hopscotch) came from Mum’s stash, as well as the pattern book I used for the pillow tops. These were among the first items that I finished and I honestly can’t remember which daughter (and family) got which one.

I have one more top to do for myself and then I’m passing the pattern book to Deloise.

Christmas Cards – Batch 2

Christmas Lights (from the Splendid Sampler series)

I made at least one of these last year and repeated the pattern several times this year.

Mug Rugs

I knew I wanted to make a few mug rugs this year but I had to look hard to find a pattern that would work with Christmas fabric and that had a pocket to tuck something into. I tried fitting chocolate into the pocket but the bars were too long and thick to fit nicely so I ended up with a tea bag and one of Pat’s download cards.

Whale & Dolphin

I bought a couple of kits for Emma and Taylor several years ago from Amazon. I was very disappointed in them; they were from Dimensions and listed as a beginner project. Taylor and I attempted the dolphin but it was way too difficult for a beginner. I made the dolphin for Taylor as a birthday card the year after we tried working on it together.

A few years ago Emma sent me the dolphin that she did – very well I might add! I thought maybe the whale would work for Taylor’s card this year but after it was done I decided it was a bit too immature for her so I hung it on the wall beside Emma’s. I didn’t care really where it went as long as I got it out of my to-do bin!
