Snow Bird

8.5″ x 8.5″

Gail and I chose to do some embroidery in our weekly sessions. I didn’t have any embroidery I was working on so I had to pick something new. When I went looking for a pattern I found this one that was part of a calendar sampler I downloaded (for free) in 2012.

It didn’t take long to do the embroidery as outlined in the pattern but I wasn’t pleased with the outcome so I started adding a few bits of design on my own and I like it better. I wasn’t sure what I would do with it. Gail and I discussed doing a single wall hanging with something for the four seasons but I decided I’d do small hangings that could be switched out as the seasons change.

This will be my Winter hanging but it will be put away for several months before I dig it out again.

This is one of the books included in Kathryn’s 2025 birthday bag. I saw the idea on Facebook and decided to pass it along. On her birthday Kathryn received a bag of books (second hand that I’ve pre-read) each wrapped in brown paper. The idea is that once a month (on her birthdate) she can pick a book to read. Each book includes a bookmark of some sort.

I found this book in one of the little neighbourhood book shelves. It was an easy read; although the ending was never in doubt the journey to the end was entertaining.

Mollie has returned to Inishmore after living most of her life in California. When her parents divorced she and her mother moved from the island leaving her father and brother behind. Mollie has arranged a one-year teaching position in Inishmore hoping to reconnect to her family. The sudden death of her brother and his wife turns all of her plans upside down.

Happy Birthday Audrey

May 17, 2025

I’ve been enjoying some cross stitching in the evenings and I’ve made a number of cards from this flowers of the month collection. Of course I’m not necessarily matching the cards to the months they are sent out.

By the time Audrey receives this card I hope the daffodils are dazzling.
