A few good hours

Friday, September 15, 2023

I feel like I had a really good sleep last night – for the last three hours anyway. I was awake my usual times during the night but at five this morning I got up to the bathroom and went back to bed and slept really well until eight. I’ve made note of the day and time so when I talk to the technician next week she can review the results and see if, in fact, I did sleep better during that time. I added my weighted blanket to my bed this morning and I’m hoping that might also help.

I definitely have had more energy these past couple of days. I managed to get all my recycling sorted and loaded into the car this morning. I made a Greek salad for my supper, did a load of laundry, emptied the dishwasher and even had time to take care of a couple of computer-related tasks.

This afternoon I went to the recycling depot as well as the bottle depot before I headed off for coffee with Gail. I didn’t take anything to work on but I think next week I’ll take some sort of hand stitching – something that doesn’t need a lot of concentration so we can still chat. On the way home I stopped to pick up a few groceries.

Up next – Friday Night Baseball and a hot dog for supper!

Still working

Thursday, September 14, 2023

The day is gone and it is time to quit working.

I spent the morning sorting through the tasks that the Hall accountant asked me to do. I sent her the info before noon and I haven’t heard back from her so I’m hoping all is well.

I made myself a big lunch (Enchiladas from our last Hello Fresh delivery) and watched a TV show while I ate. I realized that I’m able to do some crocheting while I read the sub-titles so if I watch TV for a couple of hours in the evening I won’t feel quite so much like I’m wasting my time.

My intention was to sort the recycling so I could get it up to the depot this afternoon. I made the mistake of checking my e-mail first and I had a message from the Hall Treasurer saying he was really concerned about one of the accounts he and the President were supposed to be sorting out. I told him I’d see if I could help him out. I’ve provided some of the answers for them but the entire afternoon is gone now.

I think I’ll leave the recycle sorting until the morning and I’ll take it up to the depot as soon as it opens.

A pressing matter

September 13, 2023

I slept better last night. My light was out by 9:30 last night and I didn’t get up until 6:30 this morning but I was still woke up every few hours. I wasn’t bothered by the mask at all and maybe my movement is what is causing me to wake up. I didn’t have a problem getting back to sleep so if that holds I don’t mind waking up a few times. And maybe if I didn’t look at the clock every time I turn over it might make for a better night.

I spent some time this morning working on Hall accounting. The Treasurer and President struggle with the financials and I’m very aware that I left them in an awkward position when I left. They asked me to answer a few questions that the accountant had, which meant I had to do a deep dive into the books. I sent everything off to the Board and the accountant before lunch.

This afternoon I’ve been pressing the fabric that I brought home (and washed) last week. I’ll clear a bin for some of it as I know the pattern it is going to be used it for. The others I’ll add to the drawer that holds either my florals or my neutrals.

I was just finishing up the pressing when the accountant called me and asked if I would make the changes to the financial file that I had uncovered when I was doing my research. I’ll have to get approval from the Board before I start any work but I don’t mind doing it. My fingers were itching to make changes when I saw errors but that wasn’t what I was supposed to be doing.

I have a few bits and pieces that need to be pressed from a few projects I’ve been working on so I’ll get back to that for awhile. I said to Pat this morning that I didn’t even feel like sewing because my room was in such a mess. I think it’s time to fix that – maybe tomorrow.

Disappointed

Tuesday, September 12, 2023

I was a little disappointed that I didn’t have the best sleep of my life with my new CPAP machine. After a few hours of sleep I got up and made some adjustments to the mask and was more comfortable for the rest of the night. I was still awake every two or three hours though, which has been my norm for awhile now. I hope that as I get more used to the mask and machine I’ll sleep better. I’m switching to a smaller pillow tonight; that might help keep the mask in place when I switch from side to side.

Despite a less than spectacular sleep I was off to the Guild bee this morning. After the Business Meeting last week I brought home a small kit and instructions on how to make the luggage tag that we’ll be using for our Hands Across the Water event. These tags are fancier than the ones I made last year for my Twelve Days packages. I wasn’t able to figure out what I was supposed to do so I took everything back to the Guild today and got some one-to-one instruction. Turns out my kit was missing a piece so that’s why I struggled with it at home.

I managed four tags before noon. It was really busy and noisy at the Guild and I was more than ready to come home after lunch.

I think it will be an early night for me, unless I find something really good to watch on TV.
