I’ve puttered the day away

Wednesday, September 25, 2019

I’ve been busy all day. While I waited for our Cran Hall president to stop by I started my laundry. Then I cleaned up the laundry room and broke down a few boxes for recycling. I cleaned up the back deck next; we’ve tended to store “crap” out there and it had started bugging me.

I knew there was some desk work to take care of today so I started with the smallest bit first. I’m helping out with membership this year so I got the list updated – people wander in on Tuesday’s to pay their dues and I’m trying hard to keep things up to date. Final day for renewal is the October meeting; after that there shouldn’t be many changes to the list.

Then I started work on the Cranberry Hall minutes. I have them finished for the most part but I like to take a day between typing them up and sending them out so my review of them is a little more thorough. There was a bank deposit to get ready, as well as a few cheques to get ready for the mail.

I started cutting out some fabric while I waited on another person to stop by for Hall business. I’ll take the Scottie Dog block to Texada with me tomorrow and, hopefully, have it ready for Tuesday. I cut out the final pieces for Deloise’s I’m a Farmer’s Daughter block and then watched a couple of videos on the best way to sew curves. And finally I’ve cut out all the pieces I’ll need for my November miniature – I want to include it in my “free” Canada Post package.

I’ll finish the binding on my last finished quilt tonight and maybe even get to some knitting.

Good friends

When I arrived at the bee this morning there was a gift basket sitting on the corner of my table. We don’t actually have our own table but we all tend to gravitate to the same spot. I left the bag sitting as it was in the corner of four different tables and I didn’t want to presume.

Not very long into the morning I was told that the bag was for me for my birthday. It is was a lovely tin mug featuring quilt blocks using the Farm Girl Vintage fabric.

When I came up to my desk to write today’s blog I turned the leaf on my calendar and it is a 10″ Scottie dog block. Since the person who gave me the cup is a huge fan of Scotties I think I’ll make the block for her this week.

Whew – busy day

It’s been a pyjama day but it hasn’t been at all fun – I just never got around to getting dressed.

I spent all morning getting reports ready for the Cranberry Hall meeting tonight. Both the website and our Facebook page needed to be updated and some background information gathered for a couple of things we’ll be discussing tonight.

The entire afternoon was spent working out the membership list for the Guild – who has paid, who hasn’t paid and verifying and/or updating all the personal information for the members.

I just have enough time for a shower before heading out the door for the Board meeting.

Busy, Birthday and Just Lazy

Sunday, September 22, 2019

Thursday was a busy day. After sewing in the afternoon I had to get a dish ready for the pot luck and headed out the door for the unveiling of the classes and demos the Guild are planning for the year. It truly is my favourite meeting of the year. There are a number of classes I want to take and I’ll take part in some of the demos.

Since Friday was my birthday I did whatever came into my mind as something I wanted to do. I cut binding for two quilts, I picked and cut fabric for four blocks for my Thursday project and I picked and cut fabric for the Guild’s block of the month (due at the October meeting). Since I had a lot of fabric strewn about I wrapped most of it around cardboard and that took care of a lot of my tidying – both scattered around the room and in my fabric drawers. For the rest of the afternoon I did some cross stitching.

Pat was in meetings most of the day Friday but he was home in time for us to go out for dinner. We try to go to the Laughing Oyster a time or two during the summer but we hadn’t made it out yet this year; in fact I think the last time we were there was Father’s Day last year. It was their usual buffet and I mean usual; even though we hadn’t been there for so long both Pat and I felt like the options on the buffet table hadn’t changed in all the time we’ve been going. That being said, we were both stuffed at the end of the meal so it’s a good thing we didn’t have a birthday cake.

Pat headed over to Texada Saturday morning and I worked on my computer for the first hour or so. At about ten I realized I hadn’t had any coffee so I headed downstairs with my knitting (and coffee) and binge watched TV for most of the day. There were some errands to run and a few other things that needed doing but it felt like a very lazy day.

So today I had to make up some time. I did another step in the Farmer’s Daughter block I’m making for Deloise and I stitched the binding onto those two quilts. Both quilts needed labels so that got done too. I’ll spend the rest of the afternoon (and probably the next few evenings) hand stitching the binding down.
