Although Ron’s birthday is well past Earth Day I liked the theme, particularly after spending a restful and serene week at their cabin.

I chose this card (from the Splendid Sampler series) for Rhett – not because he sews, but because I liked the squirrel.

I had some trouble with my zigzag stitch (I need more practice) so reverted to a straight line on the tree and leaves and a blanket stitch on the squirrel and flower.

In my haste to get Tracie’s card in the mail after my trip to the Lower Mainland I neglected to take a photo of the finished block but fortunately I did have a photo of the unfinished block.

This was Block 11 from The Splendid Sampler series. When I started these blocks I hesitated to do the ones that had embroidery on them. Now that we are at Block 52 (although I’m far behind) the embroidery is getting easier and I rather enjoy it.

This card, called Sweet Candy, is part of The Splendid Sampler series. I used a few different symbols to represent different types of chocolates – you know the ones that come with a legend so you can pick your favourite. Does anyone really use those? I’ve yet to meet a chocolate I didn’t like!

I hope Asher has something sweet on her birthday, but make it gluten-free please.
