Happy Mother’s Day

May 13, 2018

Since my May challenge is for The Splendid Sampler I picked two blocks from the series for a couple of Mother’s Day cards.

Juggling, in my mind, was quite suitable for Christy. With Dylan and Taylor in different out-of-school activities, with a new dog in the house, and a long commute everyday for work I’m sure at times she feels like she’s juggling her load.

I picked Centered for Kathryn. Her house revolves around sports – either Dave’s, or her boys. She also centres her activities around her shifts but I know her thoughts are centred on home.

Elizabeth wanted me to make something from a fabric line she found so I finished a table runner as her Mother’s Day card. She has a number of items in her home with the Live Laugh Love sentiments – something she is very good at.

Happy Birthday Rick

Rick’s card comes from the 1880 Sampler series.

I was short on time so used an envelope finish rather than binding. Why did I stop doing my cards that way? It is so much faster!

Happy Birthday Pat

April 15, 2018

I saw a picture online and thought I could recreate it for Pat’s birthday card. It isn’t exactly the same but I’m pleased with the way it turned out. The musical note fabric was from the Guild challenge last year; I bought more than the fat quarter we were given in our challenge packets and I’ve used it a few times.

When I was looking for something else (isn’t that always the way) I found some hangars that Mum had for her cross stitch projects. I had to work to make the width of the card match the width of the hanger; at every step in the process I worried that I hadn’t done the math right.

I’m hoping Pat will hang it in the studio on Texada.
