Happy Birthday Pat

April 15, 2019

This card/project didn’t turn out as I had hoped but it was too late to make another attempt at it.

This is called a snap bag and it is held together using a metal measuring tape. Pat uses a plastic baggie to carry some of his picks in and I thought this would be a better option.

The bag doesn’t close as tightly as I would have liked but it will work for holding some of his steel guitar picks.

I’m not sure if it was my issue with the pattern or if I’m wrong in how tightly the bag is supposed to close.

Cathedral Windows from Splendid Sampler 2

This was a new method for making the classic Cathedral Window block. In my mind, someday I’m going to make a Cathedral Window quilt (in fact Stacia has given me a pattern for one). I used some of my favourite ’30s Reproduction fabrics in this one.

Balancing (from Splendid Sampler 2)

I’ve decided to use some of my sampler blocks as cards and Gavin is the first recipient of that new decision.

There aren’t a lot of cards suitable for kids in these blocks. Gavin is growing up so fast (12 this year) and soon kids cards won’t be an issue for any of my grandchildren.
