Happy Birthday Taylor

January 10, 2019

I feel bad that Taylor “real” gift didn’t get done in time to get it to her for her birthday. However, I can say that by the time she wakes up on her birthday, I will have her gift finished. It will be in the mail shortly thereafter.

I certainly didn’t want her to go without something to open so I made this pillowcase for her. I told her it was a hint as to what will be in her “real” present.

Happy 40th Birthday Kathryn

Card Trick (from 501 Rotary-Cut Quilt Blocks)

First card of the New Year and the birthday is a big one. I don’t know how Kathryn got to be this age without me getting any older!

Kaffe Fassett

I used some of the Kaffe Fassett fabrics that were left from my Farmer’s Daughter blocks. It is lovely to be far enough along that I can start using the scraps. And I never use that line of fabric without remembering how much I enjoyed hearing him speak at the Houston International Quilt Show a couple of years ago.

Happy Birthday Dave

December 19, 2018

Before I found the book with 501 card patterns, I found this block in a free ebook I downloaded a few years ago.

I picked this one for the name. Dave is so busy – whether with his boys’ hockey, Huskie’s football, the Rush – that I’m sure he must at times feel like his life is just one huge zig zag to get from one thing to another.

Happy Birthday Dylan

Yankee Puzzle

Some of the fabric in this card is the same as I used in a small case I made for Dylan a few Christmases ago. A puzzle seemed appropriate for Dylan as he was such a whiz at puzzles even when he was little. I’m happy to be spending Dylan’s 13th birthday with him – where has the time gone?

I didn’t see the mistake in this one until after it was quilted and the binding was on. By then it was too late to fix it and still have it ready on time.
