Happy Birthday Michelle

March 19, 2019

I wanted to use this musical fabric for Michelle’s card. She is quite an accomplished musician, as well as a talented photographer. I think so often of her Mum at this time of year; both Michelle and Ryan have birthdays in March and Brian and Diane’s wedding anniversary was in March.

Happy Birthday Kristin

February 24, 2019

In memory of Lynne, I try to incorporate a butterfly into Kristin’s card. This year the card is a butterfly. It was a free pattern and it wasn’t a very good one. I found that I had to do a lot of fussing and trimming for it to come out somewhere close to right. It was sent off early so hopefully it arrived on time.

Happy Birthday Kevin

February 10, 2019

From the Quilter’s Block-A-Day calendar

When I came up to my studio to make Kevin’s card the block on the calendar for the day was the right size so I didn’t look any further – it seemed like a sign. I changed up the colours a bit.

The block is called Totem Pole, although it doesn’t resemble any of the poles we have around here. The quilting is part of a pattern called Aztec; I wasn’t able to complete the quilting pattern because the block was too small.

Happy Birthday Will

January 18, 2019

I couldn’t find a particularly suitable card for Will in my go-to book of blocks. Since I was short on time I decided to use a block I had made for another project that got halted after only a few weeks.

The front of the block didn’t inspire me much so I added a backing that is more suitable to Will – who will be eligible to drive in just a year!
