My UFO Challenge for this month are the Splendid Sampler blocks – the first book of the Splendid Sampler series.
This one is called Happy Thoughts, and I tried to keep this in mind as I put together those small flying geese blocks.

After saying last week that only “special” people get my embroidered blocks I didn’t dare pass up the chance to give this one to Deloise. I used a different embroidery stitch this time and I think I did a little better.
Is it appropriate that this stitcher has a slightly diabolical smile?

My embroidery blocks are always saved for someone special!
I’m enjoying the shot cotton fabric I bought at Quilt Canada in Vancouver (with Stacia and Deloise) and I find it particularly nice with the embroidered blocks.
I need to work on my stitching skills though. When I asked the expert about what I was doing wrong (pulling the stitches too tight maybe?) she said that my stitches are about twice a long as they should be. I’ll be working on that in the next embroidery I do.

I knew I had several Splendid Sampler blocks ready to make into cards but when it came time to pick one for Christy I couldn’t find the right bin. I had this one that was still in a bin from the Spring Retreat so this is the one she got!
I have since found the right bin so it should be easier to put cards together for the next while.
