Happy Birthday Kristin

First Aid (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

I usually try to find either a butterfly pattern or fabric that has butterflies for Kristin’s card. I was sure I had some purple fabric with butterflies but when the time came to make a card it was nowhere to be found.

This card seemed to be an appropriate second choice given Kristin’s career.

Happy Birthday Kristin.

Happy Birthday Kevin

Happy Days from the Splendid Sampler 2 collection

I can still remember where I was when I heard the news of Kevin’s birth – standing in the hallway of our Fort Smith apartment.

This is one of the easier patterns in the series. The polka dot fabric is from a bundle I purchased specifically for these patterns.

Have a Happy Day Kevin!

Happy Birthday Will

Shining Star (from the Splendid Sampler series)

No problem associating a name with this block. Will is a star in whatever he chooses to do – football, softball, hockey – and he’s making a name for himself as a great referee in hockey.

This isn’t exactly how the block was supposed to be made. Often when I follow the picture I make mistakes; this time I followed the instructions and I still made a mistake. In this instance I should have followed both at the same time. I’m still happy with how it turned out and done is done.

Happy Birthday Will!

Happy Birthday Taylor

From the Splendid Sampler series

It is getting harder and harder to come up with connections between the remaining Splendid Sampler blocks and the people I am giving the block to.

This one is called Unity Star. Taylor joined a competitive gymnastics team last year so she knows how to work with a team (unity). She also is doing very well and bringing home medals in all her competitions (star).

I’m hoping to see her in action at her next competition.
