Happy Birthday Alex

September 13, 2020

Awhile ago, for either my birthday or Christmas, I received four fat quarters of Mickey Mouse-themed fabric. I always knew it would go back to Alex and I finally decided on a pattern to use it on.

I ordered pillow forms online that were sent directly to Kathryn; She did the work of stuffing the forms into the pillow covers. And since I had a bit of fabric left over I made a few more masks for Alex.

Opposing T’s (from the Block A Day series)

I try to find a block pattern that I can somehow relate to the person receiving it. None of my Splendid Sampler blocks were “doing it” for Jackie so I dug a little deeper into my patterns.

I recall much earlier in the pandemic when we were chatting and Jackie said she had cleared out a number of her T-shirts. She hadn’t actually done anything with them at that time but she had sorted through them. And I won’t tell you the number of T’s she came up with.

When I saw this block I knew it was the one for her – at least for this year.

Happy Birthday Regan & Thekla

Shuffle Block (Bonus Block from the Splendid Sampler series)

Regan and Thekla celebrate their birthdays on the same day. I miss those times when we all celebrated along with Dad.

I try to make a similar card for everyone who shares a birthday and this is no exception. Some of the elements of these cards are the same, and some of them are different.

Happy Birthday Ron

Angel Fish (Block 114)

This is one of the blocks from my Block-a-Day calendar. It is smaller than the normal blocks – totally my fault. But since it wouldn’t fit into any of the quilts I’ll be putting together from those daily blocks I decided to use it for a card.

It has been a good summer for Ron at the lake and I know he’s been out on the boat. He’s caught some fish too, but I doubt he got one that looks quite like this!
