Stars Above (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

There is so little of any one of the fabrics that the star fabric I had wouldn’t have even shown. However the overall design shows a star so I guess it’s appropriate. When I’m using such small pieces I’m thankful I’m using a paper-piecing technique.

Spools (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

This block might be better suited to a quilter, but perhaps Wendy is a whiz with a needle and thread in some other way. If all my needles were as thick as this one I might not have as much trouble threading them.

The block pattern is actually American Spool but since I didn’t put a flag in the centre of it I think I can safely shorten its name to Spools.

Snail and Pail (from The Splendid Sampler 2 series)

I wasn’t sure about this block when I started. It had a Springtime feel to it but who wants a snail on their birthday card? When it was finished though I thought it was quite cute although I’m not now, and never will be, fond of snails.

Double Dutch (from The Splendid Sampler 2 series)

I keep looking at this card because I think I made a mistake. Some of the seams don’t exactly match up but that is a regular occurrence for me and I don’t consider it a mistake. If there is a mistake it is too late to fix it now.

Happy Birthday Jody!
