Did you get caught?

Monday, April 1, 2019

I didn’t get caught with any spoofs today, and I didn’t play any on anyone. And I wasn’t on Facebook much so I didn’t even see any of the spoof attempts that might have been made.

We had a great weekend at the studio – the weather was fabulous and I was able to get out for a walk on Friday; Pat and I did a new hike on Saturday and it is one we’ll go back to. I didn’t get a lot of cross stitching done because I took a really good book and a really relaxing knitting project with me. I managed a few stitches though.

I’ve been at my computer since I got home and I still have a lot of work to do. Most of it now involves getting projects sorted out for my Tuesday and Thursday sewing sessions.

My Tuesday project last month was one of my UFO Challenges – Splendid Sampler 2 blocks. I’ll be using these for cards in the future so they may show up in your mailbox sometime.

My Thursday project was also one of my UFO Challenges. This is a mystery quilt so I’m not certain how it all goes together. So far I’m liking it.

I’ve got two new UFOs picked for April; I’ll have to dig the first one out tonight so it’ll be ready to go tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Dorothy

March 30, 2019

When I was doing my cleaning/organizing I came across this block. I didn’t make it and the scrap of paper that came with it showed a different project to use it for. I thought the purple made for a nice Spring card. This is a special birthday for Dorothy.

Where the Crawdads Sing

Author: Delia Owens

On a recent trip to the library to check out a book the clerk told me that one of the books I had ordered wasn’t available; our library didn’t have it and it was too recent to be available through an inter-library loan. However, they had acquired another book I had requested (long enough ago that I had forgotten about it).

Kya, the Marsh Girl, lives in a shack in North Carolina’s Outer Banks. She has been abandoned by everyone in her family – her older siblings, her mother, her brother and, finally, her father when she is just ten. She attended school for only one day; the teasing of the other kids was too much and she never went back.

Alone in the marsh and swamps she survives on seafood, selling it in exchange for gas for her father’s old boat. As she matures she has two relationships – both of which end with her being abandoned – and a flourishing career as an artist, writer and an expert on the marsh. When one of her admirers is found dead Kya is charged with murder and faces the death penalty.

I kept hoping throughout the trial that none of the people who had been kind to Kya was the murderer. The ending was quite a surprise.

Happy Birthday Dylan

March 27, 2019

Dylan Burton that is!

On the day at the Tuesday bee when I was working on Michelle’s card a friend gave me some musical scraps that she had collected from someone. I used some of the scraps to put together this block for Dylan’s birthday.
