This book came to me from Kathryn.

You know from the cover that the story involves a murder, a trial and a jury. But getting through all the details is quite a ride! Trying to figure out who the next victim would be, who the rogue juror was, and how he was going to be caught weren’t explained until the end of the book. And I wanted to go right back to the beginning to see if I missed a clue I should have picked up on.

It’s a Breeze

This one has been finished for awhile but, for whatever reason, I didn’t record it. I’ll soon be looking at my 2019 accomplishments so I want to get everything in here before then.

The pattern came from Stacia, Deloise’s and my trip to Houston. We each bought a bundle of 3 fabrics (1 yard of each) and got a free pattern to go with it. This is the one I picked because I love love love pinwheels.

It was very quick to put together and the quilting was done on Texada on one of those weekends where I quilted to my hearts content in my workshop.

I’m not sure where this one will end up – maybe a gift to someone or maybe a donation quilt.

When we (Stacia, Deloise and I) were at the Saskatoon Quilt Show this fall both Deloise and I purchased a book of eight patterns (and shared them). There is no limit to the number of quilts I can make from these patterns alone.

When I see fabric on sale or fabric that I really like but have no real reason to purchase I think of these 3-yard patterns and purchase fabric guilt-free!

Extra sewing time

Since we had our board meeting last night there was no need for me to drop by the Hall today to check for mail. I have to go out tomorrow so I didn’t have many errands to do today either. I say “many” because I planned to drop my pillow at the SPCA but I was parked in the driveway before I remembered. I’ll add that to my errands for tomorrow. But I was among the last stitchers to leave today – that doesn’t happen often.

I got my two blocks of the month done for the Guild – one for December and one for January. I made the December block but used the wrong colours so I took it apart, used a portion of it and got it done the right way. The parts I had to remove became two smaller blocks that I’ll keep on hand for something. We have a class coming up on using orphan blocks and I certainly have more than a few of those. Orphan blocks usually mean blocks left over from a larger quilt; in my case it means blocks I messed up on and had to start over!

I hoped to get cards done today in the order that I needed them. I’ve had the first one pulled out since summer as it was originally intended for a September birthday. Since all the fabrics were in a bag I assumed I had everything I needed but I guess I needed one of the fabrics for something else so I wasn’t able to go any further with it. Fortunately I had a couple more cards that I could work on and one of them is finished.

I’ve been enjoying my evening knitting project. The yarn is uneven and unusual so I’m just using a garter stitch and letting the texture of the yarn make an interesting pattern. It will be reversible too!

Back to reality

Monday, December 16, 2019

I was in no way stressed about it but I had to get back to reality today. I was up at 6:30 and I’m hoping my sleep pattern is back to normal.

I spent all morning getting ready for the Cranberry Hall board meeting tonight. I have kept pretty much up-to-date on all the transactions so the reporting was simple. Due to the renovations there were a few extra reports that I needed to track separately but they didn’t take long either.

This afternoon I was back to clearing a corner – well trying to clear a corner and the corner was, in fact, my cutting table (again). Before I got projects ready for the bee tomorrow I had quite a bit of fabric that needed to be cut and sorted for scraps. Now that those are taken care of I have a lot of extra tools and accessories that I want to put away in a bin somewhere so they are out of the way.

I’ll be back to needing cards next month so I have cut out a few to work on. I also have two blocks of the month to do (because the one I did last month was wrong). I got a new tote bag (a gift to myself) and it is filled with other things to work on – leaders and enders, a placemat, and another embroidery project. I’ll run out of time before I run out of projects.

I’ll get back to my cutting table now and maybe get it cleared off before supper.
