What is that wet stuff?

Thursday, August 1, 2013

After the concert last night Pat and I stood out on the deck and watch a small lightning display. It was mostly sheet lightning, with a fork showing up occasionally. There was no thunder but it was quite windy so perhaps the sound was being blown in a different direction. When we got up this morning there was the unmistakeable smell of rain in the air and the street was wet. I don’t remember the last time we had rain, but it was definitely sometime in June. It is still cloudy; the rain is gone but it feels very muggy.

Pat’s writing group was meeting here again this morning. I decided that since this was the third week in a row they would get my house with a general clean rather than a special clean just for them. I’m not sure if Pat noticed, but he chose to meet outside on the deck rather than in the house!

Today was a Red Cross day but I think the entire month of August will be focused on the Loan Cupboard. For two days next week a woman from the Courtenay office will be over helping us get the inventory updated and computerized. The following week a woman from the Nanaimo office will be here for a day to teach us how to use the client portion of the system. Several of the ladies won’t use the computer (and that is fine) so I’ll have to do some extra data entry on the days I am working. It was quiet today, but I worked a full 45 minutes of overtime – waiting for Windows updates to install!

I have the binding done for my Advent Calendar and, hopefully, I have collected everything I need to take with me so I can do some hand stitching this weekend. We’ll be on the first ferry out tomorrow morning. We’re at a festival on Friday and Sunday; we’re still looking at options for Saturday.

I’m off now to do a load of laundry and my packing. Talk to you in a few days.
