I started the day by telling myself it was time to get started on the free-motion quilting project I’ve been putting off for far too long. I thought I could get some highlighting done on it before lunch, and then start on the background quilting after lunch. And wouldn’t it be nice if I could get enough of the quilting done that I’d could take it with me on the weekend to start some of the hand stitching.
I came up to my studio and put on my meditation music. I’ve been listening to an online meditation music stream while quilting my last few projects. It seems to work better for me than the radio. If I have the radio on I’m so aware of every half hour going by (when CBC breaks for news updates) and it seems like the day goes too quickly. With the meditation music I hear it in the background but there is no wondering who the artist is or needing to Google something for information.
Everything was set (and I think the stars were aligned) and I had the highlighting done in no time at all. By noon I had two out of five sections quilted. After lunch I finished up the free-motion quilting and moved on to stitching the border. It is trimmed now and ready for the binding. I can definitely do my hand stitching on the piece as it is, but I’m hoping I’ll have enough time tomorrow to add the binding.
We’re out for a show tonight at The Hub restaurant – an out-of-town duo is performing. One of the women plays the violin and the other plays piano and accordion. As of about a week ago they were still trying to find a piano so it may turn out to be just the two instruments.
