Taking care of business

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

I can usually plan on spending most of the day on a Wednesday in my studio. It’s one of two days during the week that I don’t have other commitments. But today I had a bit of work that needed to be done.

There were several loads of laundry needing my attention. I can only get one load at a time pinned to my outside drying rack so I got an early start. One load was sheets so they had to go through the drier. My last load is kitchen linens and I may not have time to get them through the washer with time enough to dry before bedtime. They can wait until tomorrow if need be.

It is garbage/recycle day tomorrow so I got a head start on that. I had coffee pods to recycle, but I was gentler on my hands today and only notice one new owie. I was happy to see that the Let’s Talk Trash team will have a booth at Sea Fair. I want to confirm that all the work I do to recycle our pods is actually acceptable to the recycle folks. If not, I’ll have a dilemma.

Since half the day was shot already I decided to clean up my e-mail, pay some bills, and do a bit of Red Cross work. The computer system is ready; I just need to check to see it is working okay at my shift tomorrow. There were some adjustments that needed to be made to the instruction sheets for the volunteers. Sheila asked me to retype the sheets, and I made quite a few editorial changes. Hopefully she won’t mind (or notice). I filed my GST report, and picked out patterns for my August cards.

For what is left of the afternoon, I’m going to sit outside and read.
