I have always loved the movies. When we lived in the City I was able to see all the latest releases and I loved attending all the Film Festivals to see the independent and foreign films that might not make it into the mainstream theatres.

We have an historic theatre here in Powell River. The Patricia Theatre is the longest running movie theatre in Canada, having started in 1913. Although the theatre is showing its age, it still shows first-run movies every week. In the fall and spring they also run a special film night each week that features some of the award-winning foreign films that I love so much.

Powell River also holds a Film Festival each year. Last year was our first opportunity to attend. Although the movies were mainly documentaries all were top quality films.
