Christmas Cards – Batch 2

Christmas Lights (from the Splendid Sampler series)

I made at least one of these last year and repeated the pattern several times this year.

Mug Rugs

I knew I wanted to make a few mug rugs this year but I had to look hard to find a pattern that would work with Christmas fabric and that had a pocket to tuck something into. I tried fitting chocolate into the pocket but the bars were too long and thick to fit nicely so I ended up with a tea bag and one of Pat’s download cards.

Christmas Cards – Batch 1

Tuesday, December 26, 2023

I made a variety of Christmas cards this year so over the next couple of days I’ll post photos of them.

Primitive Trees

The November Guild demo was an evening of hand stitching one of these delightful trees. I loved the process and the pattern was immediately added to my card list. They were simple to do and I had improved my Blanket stitch by the time I was finished.

Juggling (from the Splendid Sampler series)

I’ve made this card a few times over the past years, but never for Christmas. I used Christmas fabric for the circles and I’m really pleased with how they turned out.

Happy Birthday Dave

Radio Waves (from the Splendid Sampler 2 series)

It is as if the designers intended this card for Dave. When I was thinking of a quilting pattern I looked up radio waves. Did you know radio waves are invisible? Knowing that, I attempted to make my quilting as invisible as possible but also used a wavy line just in case the stitches showed.

The binding on the card depict planets. Perhaps Dave’s voice is being carried into the universe and who knows who might be listening.

Happy Birthday Dylan

Winter Beanie (Bonus block from the Splendid Sampler 2 collection)

How is it possible that Dylan is 18 this year. The day we were waiting for his arrival we were in a line-up at the Greyhound bus depot sending out Christmas packages. I was further behind that year than I am this one!

Although Dylan probably won’t need a warm hat on his birthday, he surely will when he heads to his Dad’s after Christmas.
